High performance 1 micron polyspun sediment water filter with good flow rate. Carries a heavy load of dirt, sediment, rust, sand & algae before replacement.
This sediment water filter is 10″ Big Blue sizing (10″ x 4.5″)- fits all standard sized 10″BB water filter housings. Rated 1 micron for very fine filtration, and best suited to town water, or as a 2nd or 3rd filter for tank water.
For example use this sediment water filter as a final filter for “whole of house” tank water filtration systems to remove particulates above 1 micron sizing, for clean, clear water.
This 1 micron sediment cartridge is also recommended as a “water polishing” filter to ensure good functionality of UV lamp filtration systems.
Can also be used as Pre-Filter before a carbon filter, where it extends the life of the carbon cartridge by removing the sediment load.
High flow rates & low pressure drop characterize this sediment water filter, and bacteria do not colonize the polyspun filter media as much as some alternatives.
How often do I need to change my sediment water filter?
Key factors of water quality and water quantity used are site specific for families relying on tank water, and these directly determine when replacement water filters are required.
Manufacturers recommend annual water filter cartridge replacement.
But our rural water filters are often made to work hard because of variable water quality.
Many tank water users will be familiar with reduced water quality at certain times of the year.
Heavy rainfall events may also stir up tank sediment for example.
You may notice a change in water taste and/or smell.
And perhaps reduced clarity even after filtering.
Both are direct indicators of the need for replacement water filter cartridges.
Water pressure loss in the house: slow running kitchen tap/ reduced shower pressure.
This indicates the current filter cartridge is loaded, and should be quickly replaced.
Depending on water quality/water usage, the above indicators may well occur before the manufacturer’s 12 month replacement guideline.
And after 12 months, some water filter cartridges may hold a bacterial slime which will choke off water throughput, leading to pressure loss at the tap.
Sediment water filter removes Sediment, Rust, Algae, Sand and Dirt down to 1 micron, & fits all 10″ x 4.5″ housings.
